What is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy is a treatment to replace estrogen that your body stops making during menopause. This treatment is in the form of a medication containing female hormones. Hormone therapy has been proven to help with menopausal symptoms, as well as bone loss and fractures in women post-menopause. At Papa Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, we help patients throughout the Jupiter area maintain their health by offering services like hormone replacement therapy. You can also consult with our Palm Beach Gardens team or visit our office in Port St Lucie for a consultation.

Types of Hormone Replacement Therapy

There are two types of hormone replacement therapy that our team provides. Systemic hormone therapy has a high dosage of estrogen that can be used for treating symptoms of menopause. The other is Low-dose vaginal products. This minimizes the amount of estrogen the body absorbs. These are usually used for urinary and vaginal symptoms of menopause.

Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy

People with a hormonal imbalance are often more tired and exhausted. Fatigue due to hormonal imbalance can lead to trouble with sleeping. The lower the estrogen levels are, the more difficult sleep is to come by. A lack of hormones can also cause you to experience frequent depression or mood swings. This type of depression is often unaffected by traditional medicines, so exploring alternative medicine is usually the best way to combat issues like this. The more estrogen a woman has, the more serotonin is pumped through the body.

A Defense Against Diseases

Research has determined that hormone replacement therapy can help prevent women from suffering from medical conditions like osteoporosis. Younger women who receive this therapy may even be less likely to develop diabetes as a result. In addition, it has been found effective in treating hip fractures in older patients.
