Seatbelts are designed to save lives in auto accidents, but the reminder of the seatbelt after the accident is the pain in the shoulder. Patients in Jupiter, FL, as well as Palm Beach Gardens and Port St. Lucie, have access to Dr. Michael Papa at Papa Chiropractic and Physical Therapy for chiropractic care that not only provides pain relief but also helps the body heal after an injury. In the event of auto accident injuries, chiropractic care plays a significant role in the healing process after the pain in the shoulder ends.

Why Seatbelt Shoulder Pain Happens

During a car crash, a seatbelt protects a person by wrapping around their body in a powerful manner. However, this may also cause sudden pressure on the shoulders, back, and surrounding soft tissues. This may cause a range of pain, from inflammation to a strained muscle or even a joint. Even though it may be a minor pain, it may worsen over time if it is not treated.

A chiropractor may be able to assess the pain in the shoulders and surrounding areas to establish whether it is a result of a soft tissue injury, misalignment, or compensation for a different body part.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help

Chiropractic care after an auto accident is designed to support healing in a natural, non-invasive way. At Papa Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, treatment may help reduce pain, improve mobility, and ease tension in the shoulder and upper spine. When the body is moving properly, it often recovers more efficiently.

For many patients, shoulder pain is not isolated. It may be connected to neck stiffness, back discomfort, or other lingering symptoms after a collision. That is why a chiropractor looks at the body as a whole rather than focusing on just one painful spot.

Don’t Ignore Delayed Symptoms

Some injury symptoms show up right away, while others take hours or days to become noticeable. A shoulder that feels sore after a seatbelt injury may become tighter, weaker, or harder to move if the issue is not evaluated. Seeking care early can help prevent a longer recovery and reduce the chance of chronic discomfort.
