Lower back pain is a widespread issue that affects people of all ages and lifestyles, often limiting daily activities and reducing overall quality of life. At Papa Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, with offices in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, and Port St. Lucie, FL, our chiropractors provide comprehensive evaluations to determine the underlying causes and develop targeted lower back pain treatment plans. Early intervention is key, as addressing discomfort promptly can prevent long-term complications. Understanding the common triggers of lower back pain helps patients take a proactive role in their care and recovery.

Muscle Strains and Ligament Injuries

One of the most frequent causes of lower back pain is muscle strain or ligament injury. Lifting heavy objects improperly, sudden movements, or repetitive bending can overwork muscles and ligaments, causing inflammation and pain. Our chiropractors assess these injuries and implement treatments designed to relieve tension and restore normal function. Strengthening and flexibility exercises are often recommended alongside adjustments to support recovery and prevent recurrence.

Herniated Discs and Spinal Issues

Problems with the spinal discs, such as herniation or degeneration, can also trigger lower back pain. When a disc bulges or ruptures, it can irritate nearby nerves, resulting in sharp pain, numbness, or tingling in the lower back and legs. Our clinic provides a combination of spinal adjustments, targeted therapies, and rehabilitative exercises as part of lower back pain treatment. Addressing these structural issues early can improve outcomes and prevent chronic discomfort.

Poor Posture and Sedentary Lifestyles

Maintaining poor posture while sitting, standing, or sleeping can place unnecessary strain on the lower back, contributing to pain over time. Sedentary habits, including long hours at a desk or insufficient physical activity, weaken muscles that support the spine. Our chiropractors work with patients to correct posture, enhance core strength, and incorporate movement strategies that reduce stress on the lower back. Educating patients about proper ergonomics is an essential component of preventing future pain episodes.

Arthritis and Age-Related Changes

Age-related conditions, such as osteoarthritis, can cause lower back pain by affecting the joints and tissues of the spine. Degenerative changes may lead to stiffness, reduced mobility, and chronic discomfort. Our clinic combines adjustments, exercises, and lifestyle recommendations to manage these symptoms effectively and maintain spinal health. Regular evaluations allow our chiropractors to monitor changes and adapt treatment plans to the patient’s evolving needs.
