Millions of people worldwide suffer from tension headaches and migraines. Despite the pervasiveness of these problems, there are effective treatment options out there. The following tips provided by Papa Chiropractic – your Palm Beach Gardens chiropractor, Port St Lucie chiropractor, and Jupiter chiropractor – are just a few ways to ease the pain from tension headaches.
Whether you are driving for long periods, sitting at your desk all day, scrolling through social media on your phone, or binge-watching your favorite show, you need to take a break. Sitting with your head and neck in one position for too long can cause strain and tension, leading to a lot of pain.
The body is made up of mostly water. When you stay hydrated, the discs between your vertebrae act as they are supposed and provide a cushion between the bones. Without this support, you will likely experience tension headaches.
When sleeping, you need your entire spine to be aligned to prevent headaches, a migraine, and other long-term conditions. Using a mattress and pillow that support such is one big step towards preventing pain. Also, try different sleeping positions to find one that is both comfortable and keeps your head, neck, and back in alignment.
Our chiropractor employs several treatments and therapies to help rid you of or minimize the pain of your tension headaches. One of these is massage therapy, as it can help relieve muscle tension, promote stress relief, and facilitate general relaxation.
Spinal adjustments to restore your spine’s natural alignment have also been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of tension headaches. When the spine is not properly aligned, it is not supporting the neck and body as it should. Without that support, muscles must overcompensate, causing greater tension. With spinal manipulation, your body can function as intended and you will experience fewer tension headaches.
If you suffer from tension headaches or experience an ongoing migraine, Papa Chiropractic and Physical Therapy can help. Give our offices a call at (561) 744-7373 to schedule an appointment with your Jupiter chiropractor, Port St Lucie Chiropractor, and Palm Beach chiropractor.
