5 Common Chiropractic Techniques for Shoulder Pain
Traction Table. A traction table is used to provide spinal adjustments by rolling out the spine. In many cases, shoulder pain can be caused by a problem that originates in the spine. With this in mind, a traction table can help put the spine into proper alignment to take the pressure off of a compensating shoulder and prevent further pain and discomfort.
Electrotherapy. For shoulder pain, a set of nodes can be placed on the shoulder and send pulses of electricity throughout the shoulder muscles. This will release tension in muscles, providing relief to the shoulder or other areas.
Heat and Cold Therapy. With this type of therapy, ice packs and heating pads are strategically placed to stimulate circulation and provide relief to shoulder pain. This can be used in combination with other methods of therapy.
Drop-Table. A drop table is a tool that chiropractors use to provide chiropractic adjustments. The table, as the name suggests, drops when the chiropractor applies pressure on the patient as they are on the table. This is used to take some of the force off of the patient, but also increase the range of motion that can be used to adjust.
Stretching. While stretching is often something that can be done at home, a chiropractor can provide advice for how to stretch and even assist in the stretching.
